چکیده

This paper presents a computing architecture suitable for the information information management and the demanding calculations of the supply chain. A grid architecture is proposed for distributed computations for simulation studies, integrated software applications, process synthesis, and large-scale optimisation. The proposed network features numerous advantages over traditional, monolithic solutions in terms of scalability, software re-use, security and distributed resource discovery and utilisation. The proposition is a novel example of how advanced distributed techniques and paradigms can be applied in the area of chemical engineering to support the distributed simulation of chemical processes.

Nimrod/G: An Architecture of a Resource Management and Scheduling System in a Global Computational Grid

The availability of powerful microprocessors and high-speed networks as commodity components has enabled high performance computing on distributed systems (wide-area cluster computing). In this environment, as the resources are usually distributed geographically at various levels (department, enterprise, or worldwide) there is a great challenge in integrating, coordinating and presenting them a...

Managing data persistence in network enabled servers

The GridRPC model [17] is an emerging standard promoted by the Global Grid Forum (GGF) that defines how to perform remote client-server computations on a distributed architecture. In this model data are sent back to the client at the end of every computation. This implies unnecessary communications when computed data are needed by an other server in further computations. Since, communication ti...

Symbolic Computations based on Grid Services

The widespread adoption of the current Grid technologies is still impeded by a number of problems, one of which is difficulty of developing and implementing Grid-enabled applications. In another dimension, symbolic computation, aiming to automatize the steps of mathematical problem solving, has become in the last years a basis for advanced applications in many areas of computer science. In this...

An Evaluation of Economy-based Resource Trading and Scheduling on Computational Power Grids for Parameter Sweep Applications

Computational Grids are becoming attractive and promising platforms for solving large-scale (problem solving) applications of multi-institutional interest. However, the management of resources and scheduling computations in the Grid environment is a complex undertaking as they are (geographically) distributed, heterogeneous in nature, owned by different individuals or organisations with their o...

Vine Toolkit - Towards portal based production solutions for scientific and engineering communities with grid-enabled resources support

In large scale production and scientific, academic environments, the information sets to perform computations on come from various sources. In particular, some computations may require the information obtained as a result of previous computations. Workflow description offers an attractive approach to formally deal with such complex processes. Vine Toolkit [1] solution addresses some major chall...
